Forsaken Friday

Welcome to the Forsaken Friday Character Interview,

How Long have you been using Dethcrow or at least his overall concept as a roleplay character? The name Dethcrow has been used by me as a roleplay character since about 2006, but his current persona is only about 3 years old, maybe 4.

What was the Original Inspiration for the character? My original inspiration for the character as his current self stems from an old fascination with dragons and the lore about how they carry themselves and the values they have. I thought "What if dragons were on the verge of extinction and had the knowledge to create a race to carry on their heritage and legacy?" Out of that thought, Drakon were born, starting with Dethcrow.

How closely does the personality of the character reflect your personality? I feel as though Dethcrow reflects me almost completely. Sarcastic, arguably childish, but highly intelligent and more mature than he seems.

Is there anything about Dethcrow you want to change? Dethcrow actually has been changed several times, but his latest incarnation is my favorite. No matter what changes may or may not be made in the future, this will be my most cherished version of him.

What combat role do you think Dethcrow fills? And Why? Though he's meant to be a leader in general, I feel as though he doesn't quite fill that role in combat. If I were to label his role using MMO traditional group dungeon roles, I'd say he's a high damage, fair defense melee DPS that incorporates magic slightly.

What's your plans for Dethcrow's evolution into a stronger fighter? Well, I think he's plenty strong right now, but as he ages he will gain more strength and insight. Aside from that, only the dice rolls can determine his combat prowess.

Another incredible look into the true souls of the characters that will be showcased in all their glory during the main storyline of the Forsaken Realm.

Wednesday Character Spotlight

Welcome to the Wednesday Forsaken Realm Character Spotlight,

In this weeks issue we are going to talk about the Forsaken Realm's main protagonist. This character is a played by a longtime friend of mine and has so much thick background that he can't fit it all onto the forum. This week's spotlight goes to: Dethcrow.

Dethcrow is a very complex character with very directional inner workings. His thought processes still confound me to this day. When Dethcrow sets his mind to something or takes someone's side, he is loyal to the end and never changes his course based on manipulation or bribery. With the combat skill only rivaled by the honor of his Drakon heritage Dethcrow is also a fierce combatant on the battlefield. His control over the shadows gives him the mobility and his unmatched speed and agility give him the close range edge. Hopefully we can learn even more about his in-depth personality and how it changes based on the situation. Here's what we do know:

Dethcrow carries Drakonic blade crafted by the Elders before Dethcrow's birth. It was bound blood-bound to both the Elder of Discord and Elder of Shadows, allowing only one of them or one who shares their heritage to wield it. It can be used as a focus to enhance control of the elements respective to the blood used to bind it, but not grant undisputed control of them. Dethcrow himself also possesses exceptional control over Darkness, bordering masterful; Mild control over Chaos, better than other members of the bloodline, save for the Elder, himself.

Dethcrow is level-headed and respectful of all life. He holds no regrets in respect to having to kill, but will not do so unless necessary. Being born of both the Shadows and Discord, Dethcrow has developed the ability to conjure and manipulate both corresponding elements, though he refrains from using Chaos, as it is rather unpredictable. Born with exceptional power, he is one of the few Drakon who can enter the avatar state of his bloodline of Chaos, but not Darkness.

Dethcrow was born 23,490 years ago, the result of two Elders procreating to continue the purity of the Elders into a second generation. Due to being the direct heir to two Elders, he was raised by the Elders themselves. He was taught everything of their history and and the two elemental bloodlines which bore him, Chaos and Darkness. He spent years being tutored by his parents, learning to control and manipulate each respective element: Darkness from his mother, and Chaos from his father.

After finally being taught everything they could offer, Dethcrow sought out to learn other forms of combat and to understand other cultures. He spent time, around 2 centuries, with both High Elves and Wood Elves each, taking in only their non-magical lessons while respecting their religions and cultures. He also spent almost a full 300 years with the Dwarves, learning their metalworking
and studying their culture. He spent a time attempting to gain access to the Drow capital to study their martial arts, but he met no success. To make up for his inability to live with the Drow, he spent an excess amount of time with various tribes of Primals, practice various fighting techniques and honing some of the skills he had learned from the Wood Elves.

Practicing with the feline Primals helped him to enhance his reaction time to dodge or expose his scales defensively. The reptilians offered a wide variety of sparring practice, ranging from tracking ones who could camouflage to using scales offensively to inflict damage upon ones with protective armor of some sort. He also practiced grapples and throws with the simian Primals.

Upon leaving the Primals and beginning his journey home, he was haunted by the ghost of a race that was all but extinct, the Nospheratu. Near the center of the continent, the ghost attacked relentlessly, his blows wild and unpredictable until the moment they struck. After hours of battling the age-old foe, Dethcrow emerged victorious at the age of 11,946. It was not until he returned home that he learned the identity of his attacker, however. Since then, Dethcrow has traveled every few years, revisiting those he stayed with and honing his skills.

Forsaken Friday

Earlier this week we chose  Jacob "The Jester" Harley as our first character spotlight of the season. We finally managed to sit down and interview his creator. We asked him a few questions about Jester and where he hopes to take the character in the future.

How Long have you been using Jacob "The Jester" Harley or at least his overall concept as a roleplay character? For about two years in LARP (Live Action Role Play) as well as a personal character in a short story I'm creating.

What was the Original Inspiration for the character?
Through my childhood he was actually an imaginary friend that I forgotten about until I got into my high school years and twisted him around into my image of how my childhood went from good to bad.

How closely does the personality of the character reflect your personality?
Just like I said in the other question Jacob is actually a side of me I wish to express. Not the Psychotic killer side, but the side that is able to stand up and deal with everything that went on in my life from bullies to family.

Is there anything about Jacob "The Jester" Harley you want to change?
His personality, his fighting style and everything about him his all good and is perfect. The only thing I would like to change is the fact that he can also remove his mask on his own and the curse still activates and that due to the fact he is considered a zombie if he loses a limb he is able to reattach it.

What combat role do you think Jacob "The Jester" Harley fills? And Why?
In combat Jacob fits the stealth type as well as the distraction. With the way that Jacob acts in a fight he tends to always make a game out of it, so using himself as bait suits his personality, but also when his dark humor changes and he becomes serious he makes sure he gets in and out of a place unseen and unheard while still leaving dead bodies behind him.

What's your plans for Jacob "The Jester" Harley's evolution into a stronger fighter?
I plan on bringing Malafar into the world. In the aspect of  times of crisis or weakness on Jacobs part, Malafar takes control over Jacob's body and shows his true form to the world and has his own abilities and weapons added to Jacob's.

Is there anything you would like to add the Jacob "The Jester" Harley's Background information?

After Jacob Made the contract with Malafar. He went on a lot of journeys trying to search for the one's who had destroyed his life. Some Journey's led him in the direction to getting closer to his destination and then it would go to a dead end to a point that after a good few hundred years he grew tired of the life of a murderous hunter looking to settle the score. He started to calm down and settle his life on becoming a bounty hunter for several years, one of his jobs had lead him to a town known as Botref, the city that never sleeps, where he spent the rest of his life working.

His reason for staying there was of a woman who worked in a red light district, paying off a debt of her husband's by selling her body, Jacob was saddened by her situation and started to bond with the woman spending all his time and money on visiting her, not for pleasure, but for the company and feeling of being around a woman like he had with his dead wife. It all seemed to be going well. He slowly started to forget his troubled past and focused on the future he felt he was having with the woman, Until one day he went to visit her and saw the bruises and cuts on her face and body from the man she had called her husband.

In an instant Jacob left in a blinding fury of rage and hate searching for the man who had harmed the woman. Soon locating him and discovering he was part of a band of thugs who had ruled over the town and even deceived the very woman he was falling for to work off a debt that wasnt even real. That day pushed Jacob to the point of no return as he turned back into the murderous, Psychotic killer he used to be. Slaughtering each and every person who belonged to the gang of thugs, saving the so-called husband for last leaving his rotten corpse at the entrance of the Whore house that the woman worked at as well as leaving behind a large sum of money to start her life. Jacob took leave of the town in search of his new path.

Forsaken Wednesday Character Spotlight

Welcome to the Forsaken Realm Wednesday Character Spotlight,

This week we will be looking at a personal favorite of mine. This character has just as much going on inside his head as he does outside. With a comic relief point of view and a quick trigger for violence, this week's spotlight goes to: Jacob "The Jester" Harley.

Jester is a very interesting character with a thick background that only the administration staff has had the pleasure to learn about, in the coming weeks we will be looking to get an interview with Jester's creator and hopefully gain some insight into this madman's brain. Here's what we do know:

Jacob is a Human by birth and a Demon by description. He kills without remorse and usually makes it into a game for his own enjoyment. Jacob uses enchanted chains that he controls with his willpower to strangle and maim his victims. The chains wrap around his body acting as armor when he is not attacking and conceal themselves under his clothes. He Carries around a Large Katana with a filtration system in the blade to ooze poison over the striking surface of his blade. Jacob's mask is a cursed object used to protect his identity and punish all those who would reveal it. The Curse in his mask infects anyone who breaks or removes it. The curse traps it's victim in their own nightmares pushing their psyche to the edges of hemorrhaging.

The revealed history of Jacob: Jacob was a paladin who lived his life in a small unnamed village untouched by the corruption of the world. He was a good man caring for the old and the sick with his magic and entertaining the young and unfortunate with his jester costume. But that all changed when Jacobs home was attacked by an unknown enemy, killing his wife and unborn child and burning his home to the ground. With his last breath he called out for help wishing to kill the ones that destroyed his life. His cry for help was answered by a deity of the underworld know as the lord of the 8, Malafar the Trickster.

Malafar created a contract with Jacob were Jacob surrendered his soul to Malafar and allowed Malafar to exist inside him as his new soul so Malafar could observe the world to see if the races are prepared to be introduce to the deities of both good and evil. As the years went by Jacob searched for the ones responsible for his dismay, with the help of Malafar's contract Jacob never aged and as long as he kept killing and collecting souls he could never die either. As the years got longer his mind slowly became twisted, giving up on his search for his killers and turned to becoming a mindless kill machine. In the present time period he is a wanted killer/ hired help that goes by the name Jester.

That's all we have for you right now, check back with us Friday for our Forsaken Friday Issue of the Forsaken Realm Storyline Blog.
